Our Story

Building a Better Workforce

Pathways U.S.A. was founded with a clear purpose: to support the growing demand for skilled nurses in the United States by connecting healthcare providers with top-tier talent from countries like the Philippines, Jamaica, and beyond. With close family ties to the medical community in the Philippines and established connections in Jamaica, our team understands both the cultural nuances and the professional standards required for success in international healthcare staffing.

We’ve seen first-hand how life-changing these opportunities can be — not just for the nurses we place, but also for the facilities that gain dedicated, qualified team members who are ready to make a difference from day one.

Meet The Founders

Dr. Clarrisa Abrantes

Clarissa was born and raised in Quezon City, Philippines.  She attended high school at St. Theresa’s College of Quezon City, and then went on to obtain both a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from The University of Santo Tomas in Manila.  After completing her Doctor of Medicine Degree at The University of Santo Tomas, Clarissa moved to the United States to further her medical education.  She was accepted into the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit Michigan, and after successfully completing her residency, she passed the Internal Medicine Board Exam.  Thereafter, was recruited to work for a large internal medicine practice in Florida, where she met her husband Robert.  After starting a family with her husband, Clarissa set up her own internal medicine practice, Pulse Medical Doctors (also known as “Pulse M.D.), which she currently operates.
Clarissa, Robert, and their children travel to the Philippines often to visit family.  From her years of practicing medicine in the United States, Clarissa knows firsthand that the US has a massive need for competent, qualified, and skilled healthcare workers who genuinely care about the patients they serve and who provide their healthcare services with true compassion.  On a regular basis, she interacts with doctors who work in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities, and she is well aware of their need for dedicated and reliable healthcare providers, especially nurses.  So when Robert came to her with the idea of recruiting Filipino healthcare workers to help fill the exiting staffing needs of these healthcare providers, Clarissa was more than happy to assist.  In addition to her knowledge of the American healthcare system, and her real time awareness of the needs of American healthcare providers, Clarissa brings something very special to Pathways U.S.A.  Like the clients we aim to serve and assist, she was also once a medical student in the Philippines who dreamed of a healthcare career in America, and through dedication, hard work, and perseverance, she made it happen.

Robert Anderson. Esq

Robert was born in Huntington Beach, California, and but spent the majority of his life in Orlando, Florida.  He attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  While at Rollins College, he participated in a study abroad program in Vietnam—which turned out to be a truly life altering experience for him.  After finishing college, he returned to Vietnam and backpacked throughout the country.  While he entertained the idea of living and working in Vietnam, after returning from his travels abroad Robert decided to go to law school.  He enrolled at the University of Miami School of Law in 2000, and obtained his Juris Doctor with honors in 2003.  Soon after completing the Juris Doctorate Program at the University of Miami, Robert obtained an additional Master of Laws degree (LLM) in Real Estate Development.  Robert received his Florida Bar License in 2003, and he has practiced law in Florida since that time.  Robert has primarily focused his law practice on personal injury claims, and has successfully handled numerous bodily injury claims, wrongful death claims, and premises liability claims.
While he never returned to Vietnam after completing his legal studies, Robert has visited the Philippines several times with his loving and beautiful wife, Dr. Clarissa Abrantes, who was born and raised in Manila, and who obtained her medical degree from The University of Santo Thomas in Manila.  Through his extensive travels in the Philippines, Robert developed an admiration for the Filipino people and their culture.  And from his experiences with his wife, he has seen firsthand the warm, friendly, compassionate, and caring attitude Filipino heath care workers possess.  From watching his wife practice medicine in the United States, Robert also knows how large the demand is in America for hard working, compassionate, competent health care professionals.  All of these factors led to Robert’s decision to start Pathways U.S.A. in 2024, with the initial goal of helping health care providers in the United States locate, recruit, and hire healthcare workers from the Philippines.
Pathways U.S.A. does not just focus on recruiting healthcare workers from the Philippines though!  The world is a big and beautiful place full of talented healthcare workers who may also be interested in bringing their talents and job skills to America.  If you can meet Pathway U.S.A.’s recruitment requirements, which are listed on this website, we would love to talk to you, no matter where in the world you are.
